Something I’ve really wanted to do for a while is encryption. This feature has been requested by some of you, and I agree.
So I’m happy to share that, starting today, Kova is encrypting sensitive information such as portfolio data, strategies, and briefs before storing it in the database.
This is only the beginning. My intention is to keep pushing toward a system where only you can access your strategy information.
Even when troubleshooting with your approval, I would like nobody to be able to see your sensitive information unless you grant access with your keys.
This is an idea inspired by Bitcoin’s “don’t trust, verify”. Essentially, don’t ask people for trust when you can remove the need for it. The less trust you have to place in anyone operating Kova, the better.
Now, working on this got me thinking about larger questions around agentic investing. The thing is, bots will be passing sensitive financial context around and across layers, other agents, systems, etc.
I wonder what guardrails and standards, if any, will be put in place. I’m curious to see how this system evolves and will probably write about it more often.
